Reserves are materials set aside for an academic course or for administrative purposes. They are usually special books, videos, photocopies, or CDs that faculty members select to compliment concepts being taught in the classroom. Reserve materials generally circulate within the Library for two hours so that all class members can access them within a reasonable amount of time to complete an assignment. Some materials can circulate overnight (if they are checked out after 9:15pm) at the discretion of the instructor. Materials that do circulate overnight must be returned to the Library the following morning.
Reserves materials are located behind the Circulation Desk and can be searched for in our online catalog.
For instructors wanting to place materials on Reserve for courses, please allow 48 hours for processing. All materials must be cataloged, barcoded, and processed before they can be placed on the Reserve shelves. Please plan accordingly.
To place materials on Reserve, either fill out a Reserve Request Form in the Library, or access and download Ohrstrom Library’s Reserve Policy and Request Form as a PDF document HERE. Please read, print and fill it out. Then drop off the completed form at the Circulation Desk.
Any questions should be addressed to the Circulation Services Librarian by calling the main Library extension 4860 or emailing: schauvin at sps dot edu.
