School Camp Group
A group of campers and counselors at the School Camp in
Danbury, New Hampshire, circa 1928. The School Camp, with
its ample fields, lake, and neighboring woods and mountains
held abundant opportunities for sports such as swimming,
canoeing, hiking, mountain climbing, treasure hunting, baseball
and track. Each camper contributed to the welfare of the
Camp by the performance of a daily task, such as waiting
on tables, washing dishes, or bringing in wood. For many
years the School Camp provided a happy summer holiday for
inner city youth and provided an opportunity for SPS students
of that era to engage in a valuable community service project.
