The Ohrstrom Library eBook collections are searchable via the online catalog or by accessing the homepages provided for each organization’s collection. The online catalog is capable of searching author, title, and subject fields. The following eBooks collections are available through Ohrstrom Library:
Collection Contents:
- ACLS Humanities: This eBook collection is from the American Council of Learned Societies and contains 3,300 scholarly texts with a focus on the Humanities including the following areas: History, Art, Religion, Folklore, Musicology, Literature and Science history.
- ebrary Academic Edition: ebrary contains 70,000+ titles. This collection contains academic, general interest, study guides and reference titles.
- NetLibrary: NetLibrary contains 6,500+ titles. This collection contains a blend of academic and general interest titles.
- Project Muse eBooks: Contains 15,000 academic press eBooks from the following years: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012. Simultaneously searchable alongside the 500+ academic journals also within the library’s Project Muse collection. Coverage includes Humanities, Arts, Sciences, International Studies and Social Sciences.
To search an eBook collection, please select one of the eBook collections available on the Library’s web site. Searching within the eBook collection allows a researcher to search the entire contents of all the texts within a given collection.

In addition to the library collections above, the following eBook collections are freely available on the web. These collections contain out-of-copyright material and works that are in the public domain (such as government documents). This typically means that most of the works in these collections were published in the U.S. before 1923.
